Idyllwild County Park

Escape from the summer heat and enjoy the cool, clean, pine scented air at the Idyllwild County Park Campground. There are 96 sites to choose from, each with a fire pit and picnic table. There are restrooms and pay showers in easy walking distance from every site. Hiking trails take you into the forest and lead to the Nature Center at the other end of the park. Admission to the Nature Center is free for Idyllwild County Park campers with their receipt. From Memorial Day through Labor Day campfire programs are offered at the amphitheater. Join park naturalists for some campfire songs, storytelling, and marshmallow roasting! Program schedules are posted at each restroom bulletin board.

Reservations:   Those wishing to reserve campsites can call the toll-free reservation hotline (800) 444-PARK, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, seven days a week.

Family Camping: You can camp in the San Jacinto Mountains year-round. The facilities at the developed family campgrounds. all have drinking water. Camping fees are charged. Dogs must be kept in your vehicle or tent at night and on leash (six feet maximum length) during the day. A fee is charged for each dog you bring into the park. State- operated campsites can be reserved year-round. The USFS camps are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations for county-operated Idyllwild and Hurkey Park campgrounds can be made by calling: 1-800-280-CAMP (2267)

Interpretive Programs: Junior Ranger activities for youngsters, campfire programs, nature walks, and other interpretive programs are held during the summer in the Idyllwild and Stone Creek campgrounds. They are free, and all campers are encouraged to attend. Check the schedules posted at the state park office or near the restrooms to find out what's scheduled during your stay.

This campground is located 8-1/2 miles outside of Idyllwild off of Highway 243. The site sits right next to a beautiful creek. The campground can accommodate trailers up to 22 feet. There are water & toilet facilities and fire-rings. The elevation 5,800 feet. There are 17 camp sites and 1/4 of the sites are first-come first served, 3/4 are available for reservation.
